10:30 — SocialMedia.org’s Kurt Vanderah introduces¬†SocialMedia.org CEO Andy Sernovitz.

10:31 — Kurt: We’re thrilled to have you all here today! The next few days are going to be absolutely awesome.

10:32 — Kurt: Keep folks who are not here up to speed by sharing what you’ve learned today. Use #socialmediaorg in your social media posts so that we can all keep track of what’s going on today. You can also refer to our live blog at socialmedia.org/blog for summaries of each session.

10:33 — Kurt: You’re going to learn a ton today from thought leaders in the space and from the brands themselves.

10:34 — Our keynote today will be from Advertising Hall of Famer Linda Kaplan Thaler. I bet all of you know her from the jingle “I don’t want to grow up, I’m a Toys’R’Us kid…” See! You do all know her. She’ll be our half-time show today as she discusses her newest book, “From Grit to Great.”

10:35 — Kurt: We’ll have snacks and swag available all day today. And sorry, but no vendors today (laughter). In true SocialMedia.org fashion, we’re brands-only today and everyday at this conference, so please talk to everyone you can because they’re all people like you.

10:36 — Andy now takes over to talk about why we’re all here. “It’s so exciting that there are so many people here for just the pre-conference!”

10:37 — Andy: We just can’t get enough of the numbers. We’re all metrics-driven here. That’s why we keep putting on this pre-conference. Our jobs require metrics to prove the value of social media.

10:38 — Andy: Your boss expects social media to come with data. And so today you’ll hear from experts on social media analytics to help you figure out the best way to measure your brand’s social program.

10:39 — Kurt gives a few more logistics about the day, where to find track rooms, and who will be presenting next.

10:40 — Kurt: We hope everyone has a wonderful day today, thanks for coming!
